Den här veckan hamnar Isdraken, Huset vid Plommonån, Beyond the Red och A Study in Charlotte på min önskelista!

Neverwhere radioteater

Den här veckan har jag suttit som fastklistrad vid datorn varje kväll kl 19 när ett nytt avsnitt av radioteateradaptionen av Neil Gaimans Neverwhere släppts på BBC Radio 4. Jag älskar ljudböcker och radioteater är ju väldigt likt, men istället för en uppläsare som läser boken från första till sista sida har man skådespelare som gör teater av boken. Det känns verkligen som att titta på film/teater, men utan bilden då förstås. Det är ju en adaption så man får inte boken i sin helhet och en del kan ha ändrats lite för att passa formatet bättre, men det är så så bra. Föll pladask redan efter första avsnittet och när jag lyssnat klart på det sjätte och sista avsnittet, började jag om från början igen. Så bra tyckte jag att det var! 

Jag har sett många som skrivit att man måste ha läst boken för att kunna hänga med i radioteatern, men jag har själv inte läst boken och tycker att jag kunde hänga med tillräckligt bra i alla fall. Lite rörigt i början kanske, men sedan var det inga problem. Skådespelarna gör ett fantastiskt jobb och det är så roligt med så många kända namn - Benedict Cumberbatch, Natalie Dormer och James McAvoy, för att nämna några. 

Det finns sammanlagt sex avsnitt och alla avsnitt (förutom det första som är ca 1h) är omkring 30 min långa. Precis lagom om man har en stund över på kvällen. Risken är dock att man vill fortsätta lyssna på resten direkt.. Avsnitten finns att lyssna på gratis på BBC Radio 4:s hemsida i 29 dagar till, så jag rekommenderar verkligen alla som är nyfikna på radioteater att gå in och lyssna. Speciellt om du sedan innan gillar Neil Gaimans böcker, eller om du som jag inte har läst något av honom än, men länge varit nyfiken på hans böcker. Det är en bra start som definitivt får en att vilja läsa/lyssna på mer. 

Jag blev väldigt förtjust i radioteaterformatet och kommer definitivt att hålla utkik efter fler, så om du har något tips får du väldigt gärna lämna en kommentar! :D

In many ways, things have almost returned to normal, though Rhy is more sober, and Kell is now plagued by his guilt. Mina tankar

Som jag har väntat på Jessica Khourys Aladdin-retelling, The Forbidden Wish, och äntligen är den här! Förhandsbokade den tillsammans med A Gathering of Shadows, så förhoppningsvis har jag dem båda två väldigt snart. Annars blev jag lite nyfiken på The Smell of Other People's Houses (alltså, vem blir inte nyfiken på en bok med den titeln och det omslaget!?) som jag sett lite här och var den senaste tiden men aldrig riktigt brytt mig om att kolla upp ordentligt - förrän nu. Den utspelar sig i Alaska på 1970-talet och handlar om fyra väldigt olika ungdomar och hur deras vägar korsas. Jag älskar ju böcker där relationer står i centrum à la Melina Marchetta så tror verkligen att det här kan vara något för mig. Den har dessutom redan fått väldigt fina recensioner.
