Här kommer denna veckans nya boksläpp. Denna gången var det inte lika lätt att hitta nya böcker, så därför blev det inte så många, men däremot var det en del av dem som verkar vara bra :) Någon ni tycker verkar extra intressant?

Engelsfors. Vackert namn, risig stad. Omgiven av djupa skogar där människor ofta går vilse och försvinner. Sex tjejer har just börjat gymnasiet. De har inget gemensamt - förutom att en uråldrig ondska jagar dem.

Höstterminen har just börjat när en elev hittas död på en av gymnasieskolans toaletter. Alla förmodar att det var ett självmord. Alla utom de som vet sanningen.

En natt då månen färgats mystiskt röd förs sex tonårstjejer till den nedlagda folkparken. De vet inte hur de har kommit dit eller varför de är där, men utan varandra kommer de inte att överleva.
De får veta att de är häxor. De Utvalda, som nämns i en uråldrig profetia. Plötsligt är gymnasiet på liv och död - bokstavligt talat. De måste lära sig samarbeta trots sina olikheter, och kontrollera de magiska krafter som vaknat till liv inom dem. Tiden håller på att rinna ut. De måste hitta och besegra ondskan som jagar dem, innan ondskan hittar dem.

Det här är en sån bok som jag länge tänkt mig att jag skulle läsa, mest för att det har varit så mycket snack om den, samtidigt har jag inte velat läsa den just därför - eftersom jag byggt upp en massa förväntningar och jag vet hur tradigt det är när det inte är så som man tänkt sig. Men nu, när jag precis lagt ifrån mig boken, känns det bra att jag har läst den.

Om jag ska börja med det dåliga så var det en del saker som jag störde mig på. Bland annat språket på vissa ställen, som till exempel varje gång Nicolaus öppnar munnen för att kläcka ur sig något som ska låta som om han är från en annan tid eller något. Jag fattar att han ska låta förvirrad och allt det där, men det låter inte det minsta trovärdigt och han var den enda jag inte kunde ta på allvar eftersom han pratade som han gjorde. Sen gillade jag inte (fast detta blev jag varnad för innan jag började läsa) att vissa karaktärer var så väldigt stereotypa. Jag gillade dem ändå, de var alla härliga på sitt sätt!, men jag störde mig på att de var så trångsynta många av dem. Fick lust att skrika åt dem ibland^^

Jaja, nog med det dåliga. Det fanns mycket som jag gillade med boken - faktiskt själva handlingen. Blev riktigt positivt överraskad när jag började fatta vad boken handlade om. Redan första kapitlet gjorde mig glad, eftersom det var så oväntat brutalt på något sätt. Sånt gillar jag med många böcker, ond bråd död, som man säger^^ Det gjorde hela boken betydligt mer allvarlig och kändes lite mer äkta och jag drogs verkligen in i handlingen redan från början. Dessutom gillade jag att man inte riktigt kunde vara säker på vem mördaren var och jag tror nog jag gissade på de flesta... Någon gång ska man ju ha rätt ;)

De karaktärer jag fastnade mest för var Minoo och Vanessa (och Rebecka, men hon var ju inte med så länge...) 

Nu längtar jag faktiskt riktigt mycket tills uppföljaren, Eld, kommer ut. Vill verkligen veta vad som kommer hända härnäst :)

The Immortal Rules

Det är väl ingen som har missat att Julie Kagawa, författare till serien Iron Fey, ger ut en ny bok, vilken också är planerad att ingå i en serie, i slutet på april - The Immortal Rules. Istället för älvor har hon nu valt att skriva om vampyrer och boken utspelar sig i en framtidsvärld där vampyrer regerar. Själv tycker jag att den verkar väldigt spännande och längtar riktigt mycket tills den släpps. Idag lade Kagawa dessutom upp en boktrailer till den på sin blogg, vilket fick mig att vilja läsa den ännu mer. Om ni inte redan tittat på den tycker jag att ni borde göra det. :) 

Själv har jag inte läst Iron Fey-serien än, men för er som gillar den så kommer The Iron Fey Novellas, Winter's Passage and Summer's Crossing, som bara funnits som e-böcker tidigare, att publiceras i en samlingsvolym under namnet The Iron Legends. Dessutom kommer den att innehålla en helt ny "novella" vid namn Iron's Prophecy. Releasedatum för samlingsvolymen är den 28 augusti i år.

Det blev lite färre böcker den här gången och det blir allt svårare att hitta nya böcker, men några stycken lyckades vi få ihop i alla fall. Det blev en rätt blandad samling. Några fina somriga böcker i början och så lite mer fantasy och paranormal mot slutet. Någon som ni redan har läst eller som fångar ert intresse? :)

Lite lånat

Av någon anledning (?!) befinner sig mina tankar redan borta vid påsklovet som det inte är så långt kvar till och har därför tagit mig en sväng igenom biblioteket, precis som Frida, i jakt på massa ny härlig läsning (påsklovs-läsning i mitt fall). Jag vet, jag vet... det är några veckor kvar och jag hinner säkert läsa ut vissa av böckerna innan, men tänker ändå att det kunde vara kul att bygga upp ett litet lager med böcker jag vill läsa men är osäker på om jag vill köpa, så får vi se hur det blir med lovet sen :)

Från början var det bara The Body Finder och Desires of the Dead som fick följa med hem, men det är svårt att inte plocka på sig fler när det är så många som står där och ser fina ut, så det blev några till... :)

Paul har det inte lätt just nu. Hans bästa vän Joni har dumpat honom och hela gänget för den där Chuck! Och Tony, hans andra bästa vän, är inspärrad i huset av sina hysteriska föräldrar för att omvändas. Och Noah sedan. Noah med de grönaste gröna ögon vill inte se honom längre eftersom han råkade kyssa sitt ex Kyle i skolans städskrubb.
Rörigt värre! Och mitt i alltihop ska han hinna förbereda Glada änkans fest med döden-tema.

Den senaste tiden har det varit stressigt värre i min värld och det har tyvärr inte blivit så mycket läsande som jag hade önskat... Det här är hur som helst en bok jag läst utöver Cirkeln, som jag också håller på med, och jag har insett att det är ganska smidigt att ta med sig en bok till skolan och läsa så fort man får tid där, samtidigt som man läser något annat hemma. Känns faktiskt som om jag har hunnit läsa mer på det sättet :)

Den här boken då? Jag blev faktiskt positivt överraskad och kan väl samtidigt erkänna att mina förväntningar inte var så speciellt höga, av någon anledning, när jag började läsa, men den visade sig vara väldigt bra ändå. Jag gillade karaktärerna, som nästan alla var extremt färgstarka och stack ut på alla möjliga sätt, och jag gillade intrigerna mellan dem. Speciellt Paul, som boken handlade om, kändes så härligt levande och drog verkligen in en i berättelsen. Och så gillade jag Noah, som Paul förälskar sig i, även om jag tycker att han kunde varit lite mer... ja, närvarande, på något sätt. Vet inte riktigt hur jag ska förklara det, men ändå^^

Skulle kunna sammanfatta boken som riktigt trevlig läsning utöver det vanliga. Inget som liknar något annat jag läst i alla fall, vilket är bra, för det är alltid roligt att upptäcka något nytt! Det var kanske inte det bästa jag läst någon gång, men det var helt klart bra och något jag mycket väl skulle kunna få för mig att läsa igen. Kändes som en bok man kan ta fram när man är sugen på att piggas upp lite, även om det till slut blev "Rörigt värre" med alla kärleks- och vänskapsrelationer, men den hade en slags härlig fläkt i sig som fick allt att rulla på i en bra takt och var dessutom ganska så rolig. Jag gillade den, med andra ord :)

The Dark Artifices! :D

Åh, såg precis att det är bestämt att Cassandra Clare verkligen ska skriva The Dark Artifices. Hon har pratat om det innan, men nu är det alltså bestämt. Jag är helt överlycklig just nu! :D Älskar The Mortal Instuments och den nya serien kommer vara lite av en fortsättning, en spin-off på TMI. Shadowhuntervärlden är densamma men TDA kommer att ha andra huvudpersoner, såklart, och utspela sig i Los Angeles, år 2012. Huvudpersonen är Shadowhuntern Emma Carstairs (släkting till Jem i TID, maybe?). Här är en liten sammanfattning av handlingen som finns att läsa här, tillsammans med lite kommentarer från Cassandra Clare.

“The series follows Emma Carstairs, the fiercest warrior and most skilled young Shadowhunter since Jace Wayland, and Emma’s sworn partner in arms, Julian Blackthorn,” the statement reads. “Despite Emma’s complicated feelings for Julian, the two must band together to investigate a demonic plot that stretches from the warlock-run nightclubs of the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica.”

Önskar verkligen att man kunde läsa den nu direkt. Älskar Clare's Shadowhuntervärld och det ska bli spännande att se vad hon hittar på den här gången. Tyvärr är det väääldigt lång tid tills den publiceras, den är planerad till 2015 just nu, men i väntan på den så kommer ju två böcker till i TMI och dessutom finns ju The Infernal Devices-serien att läsa också. :)

Bibliotekslån och impulsköp

Hade studiedag igår och passade på att ta en sväng till stan. Jag hade lovat mig själv att bara titta lite snabbt i bokhandeln och inte köpa några böcker den här gången, men det gick sådär. Hittade Uppväxtklassikerboxen för bara 149:- och kunde helt enkelt inte lämna affären utan den. Den var ju så fin... 

Tog en sväng till skolbiblioteket förra veckan och jag hade helt glömt hur många bra böcker vårt bibliotek faktiskt har. Borde gå dit mycket oftare! :) 6 böcker blev det efter mycket velande, men hade det inte varit för att jag vet att jag knappt kommer hinna läsa klart de här innan lånetiden går ut, så hade gärna ett gäng till fått följa med mig hem. Men det får bli nästa gång..

Fredagen den 12 februari skulle bli ännu en perfekt dag i hennes underbara liv. Istället visar det sig vara hennes sista.
Men så får hon en andra chans. Sju chanser, till och med, för att lösa mysteriet kring hennes död. Under tiden upptäcker hon det sanna värdet av allt hon håller på att förlora.

Sju långa kapitel. Sju chanser av samma dag. Sju gånger för Sam att inse sina misstag och göra det bästa av sin sista dag i livet. Låter lite hemskt tycker jag om man bara ser till den sammanfattningen. Och helt ärligt var boken lite hemsk egentligen. Och riktigt bra!

Jag gillade idén till den här boken riktigt mycket och det var något helt annat än vad jag tidigare har läst. Det som var mest spännande var alla detaljer, alla saker som utvecklas olika beroende på hur Sam handlade och jag hade faktiskt ingen aning om hur allt skulle bli nästa gång hon vaknade upp, vad som skulle hända och vad alla runt omkring henne skulle göra och säga om hon ändrade sina egna handlingar. Samtidigt fick man hela tiden reda på varför vissa i hennes närhet var som de var och gjorde som de gjorde.

Av de tidigare recensioner jag läst om boken verkar det som om många inte tyckte så speciellt mycket om huvudpersonen, Sam, eftersom hon börjar sin resa som en riktig bitch. Men jag gillade henne väldigt mycket och jag tyckte om hennes små förändringar och sin utveckling, när hon börjar inse att det hon gör kanske inte alltid är så bra. Tur för henne att hon har hela sju chanser på sig att ändra alla fel hon gör. Tänk om en annan också hade haft det^^ Men det känns på något sätt som om hon hela tiden förstår att hon gör fel, redan från början, men att hon inte riktigt vågar erkänna det för sig själv. Och många gånger är det väl så, ibland gör man saker utan att riktigt tänka efter, eller man vågar inte riktigt tänka efter, och sedan inser man hur fel det var. Efteråt, när det redan är för sent.

Utan att kanske avslöja för mycket tycker jag det roligaste var den gången hon vaknade upp och bestämde sig för att skita i allt och bara göra en hel massa konstiga saker istället för att bry sig. Jättekul att läsa om hur alla reagerade på allt hon gjorde den gången. Sorgligast var näst sista gången hon vaknade upp och insåg, verkligen förstod, hur mycket hon skulle förlora om hon inte skulle vakna upp igen. Och även om hon gjorde det bästa av den dagen, enligt min mening, så var det nog den jobbigaste. 

Karaktärerna i den här boken var alldeles underbara på sina egna sätt och jag kände igen så många av dem från verkliga livet. Förutom Sam, så fastnade jag nog mest för hennes vänner (även om de ibland var riktiga idioter) men framför allt för Sams barndomsvän Kent. Språket var okej, Sam kläckte ur sig en hel del roliga kommentarer, men jag tror faktiskt det hade låtit bättre på originalspråk. Dessutom tycker jag Originaltiteln Before I Fall låter lite finare än vår svenska titel. Vad gäller framsidan tycker jag att både originalet och det svenska är fina på sina sätt.

Swirls var en väldigt speciell och unik bok, jag har har i alla fall inte läst något liknande tidigare, och full av oväntade twistar. Jag gillade verkligen att den utspelade sig i Amazonskogen, vilket var mycket spännande och intressant. Miljöerna är väldigt fint beskriva och de är så levande att man får upplevelsen av att man faktiskt vandrar omkring där i skogen tillsammans med karaktärerna. Bokens inledning, alltså Julias resa till Brasilien, var ganska långdragen, vilket var både bra och dåligt. Bra eftersom man kände att man fick ett bra grepp om huvudpersonen Julia och kunde leva sig in i hennes situation och för att man kände att man fick en bra grund att stå på, och dålig för att man fick känslan av att man ville att historien skulle börja på riktigt och få reda på vad boken egentligen gick ut på. Men det blev genast bättre när Julia anlände till Amazon och en massa underliga saker började hända. Jag tycker att Hershey har byggt upp Amazon-delen av boken väldigt bra och jag blev väldigt förvånad när jag förstod vad de övernaturliga inslagen i boken var. Jag tänker inte berätta något om det här eftersom jag tror att det skulle förstöra lite av läsupplevelsen (det går säkert att leta upp om ni verkligen vill veta), men jag kan i alla fall säga att det är intressant, lite annorlunda och att jag ser fram emot att få veta mer om hur allting fungerar i uppföljaren, Threads. 

I början tyckte jag att Julia var en ganska jobbig karaktär som mest klagade, men efterhand som hon lärde sig mer om sig själv och sina rötter tyckte jag att hon växte som person och i slutet tyckte jag faktiskt om henne. Julia kastas in i en helt ny värld när hon flyttar till Amazon och jag tycker om att man känner sig på samma "nivå" som henne, eftersom man upplever allt i samma takt som henne. Jag lyckades aldrig lista ut vad som skulle hända i förväg utan blev i princip alltid förvånad och jag hade precis lika många frågor som Julia. Det var rätt frustrerande att ha så många obesvarade frågor hängande i luften, men samtidigt gillade jag det. Det höll historien vid liv och fick en att vilja fortsätta läsa. 

En person som jag gillade från första stund var Halola, som blir Julias bästa kompis. Hon är väldigt glad och sprallig och kom med jämna mellanrum med klockrena, roliga kommentarer som fick mig att skratta rakt ut. Hon är dessutom otroligt hjälpsam och en väldigt bra vän som stöttar Julia i alla lägen. Det var helt enkelt omöjligt att inte tycka om henne. Också Yoji och Gabriel var karaktärer som jag fastnade för. 

Swirls var en bok som jag verkligen tyckte om och jag kommer definitivt att läsa uppföljaren. Är väldigt spänd på hur historien kommer att utvecklas och att få veta mer om världen och hur allting fungerar.
